The idea of gathering for an exhibition the performance art actions which systematically carried out in a specific geographical area, together with their documentations and further developments, was born a few years before it became a reality in the form of "Performative province of Pärnu". Because the undertaking turned out to be large, I decided to turn it into a curatorial project. All the artists approached differently to the word "performativity", which were given as the initial task and the end result as well the exhibition turned out to be quite multifaceted. Some of the actions took place as pre-advertised performances in front of the audience, other intervened into a public space without warning or took place in isolated countrysides, where the spectators could only be by chance. Documentation of these performances arrived into the gallery in the form of photos, videos, objects, paintings or further developments made in other ways.
